Austin Marvel | Timing is Everything
Walking through the ice caves, your brain is running on full speed processing data it's never been exposed to...
Even going for a second time to the same exact place, everything was so new. The smells, the sounds and overwhelming adrenaline pumping through your veins as you're seeing something that looks like it's straight out of a different planet. A Scene from a movie, it's incredible.
I looked up from my viewfinder as I was trying to get the colors right and saw for a split second this little pocket of blue.
The way the sun was peaking through the clouds, a tiny pocket of sunshine illuminated this little hold I. the glacier wall and I snapped the shot then as soon as it appeared, it disappeared. Luckily I had set everything up prior to this photograph because I almost missed my chance. I've learned that it's very important to always be ready for the shot. It comes when you least expect it and goes faster than it appeared. To date, this is one of my favorite images and does best on aluminum or acrylic as it really comes to life when a reflection on hits that blue. Another underrated medium is printing this on fuji pearl with a nice thick backing. The way fuji effects images really pops these glacial shots and they're a little less expensive than the other mediums which means you can go bigger. (Which I ALWAYS recommend.) These pieces are so monumental when they take up an entire wall space, the mood it instantly sets in a room is awesome. Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoy this image as much as I loved creating it!
